Tasting Notes

Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Oct 21
The 2020 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru is more concentrated on the nose compared to the Montée de Tonnerre, showing traces of acacia honey, yellow flowers and nectarine. The palate is very well balanced and quite dense and weighty in the mouth, with just the right amount of bitterness on the finish. Superb.

Chablis

Chablis, the northernmost Burgundy region, is famed for its crisp, mineral-driven Chardonnay wines. Unlike rich, oaky Chardonnays, Chablis wines, influenced by the cool climate and limestone-rich soils, feature vibrant acidity and flavours of green apple, citrus, and flint. Ideal with seafood, especially oysters, Chablis wines come in four appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. Esteemed producers like Domaine William Fèvre, François Raveneau, and Vincent Dauvissat are known for their classic, terroir-expressive wines.
